Rocky Jones was a Nova Scotian civil rights and Black power leader, lawyer, and antiracist advocate. Throughout his life he was a tireless champion for the rights for people of African descent; he was a founder of Kwacha House and a founding member of the Black United Front (BUF) Later he was a key mover in the establishment of the Transitional Year Program at Dalhousie University and the Indigenous Black and Mi’kmaq program at Dalhousie Law School. As a lawyer he focused human rights, prisoners’ rights, labour law and combating environmental racism.
