This is a 6-week professional development/ adult learning program with an Africentric focus that seeks to create a safe space for in-depth discussions about anti-Black racism. It centers and explores answers to unnerving questions about race, discrimination, and decolonization. Questions that will be explored include those that ask what anti-Black Racism is and if or how it exists in Nova Scotia. The program will also investigate how a focus on African Nova Scotian (ANS) history, Africentric ideas and the adoption of a decolonial lens could provide participants with cultural competencies to effect desired changes and promote a more inclusive and equitable Nova Scotia.
