Welcome to the East Coast Public Policy Training. The world needs strong informed public policy experts. This program is designed for individuals interested in understanding the fundamental concepts and processes of public policy-making. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics including policy analysis, budgeting, advocacy, and specific policy areas such as healthcare and education. The course is designed to be flexible, with 12 days of study spread out over six months.  This allows you to learn at your own pace and schedule and apply the concepts to your professional or personal interests. The course includes interactive lessons, discussions to enhance your learning experience, and expert instructors. The course will be held in person at Delmore Buddy Daye Learning Institute: 5450 Nora Bernard Street Halifax, NS, B3K 1A9.

Upon completion of the course requirements, participants will be presented with a certificate.

Class Format

Public Policy Training is a lecture-discussion class. The instructor will present the material and lead a discussion on the topic. Participants will be given the opportunity to engage in interactive activities, such as discussions, group work, and live panels from successful public policy practitioners such as public servants, non-profit leaders, and political actors. The class format is flexible for students to connect with their peers, and experts in the field and have one on one coaching from a faculty member. The session will be held once a month over two days on Thursdays and Fridays.

Students will be given handout materials during the physical classes for each session. References and links for additional material will be on the DBDLI E-Learning platform, as well as additional resources such as videos, PowerPoint lectures, quizzes, and interactive exercises. It is important to note that the platform and materials are restricted to registered students, so make sure to have proper login credentials and any other information required to access the platform.
